UPDATE (10:48 p.m. PT): The Trail Blazers waived forward Anderson Varejao, according to the NBA transaction wire.

PORTLAND -– The Warriors are at least curious about Anderson Varejao, though they can’t discuss the degree of their curiosity as long as Varejao remains property of the Trail Blazers.
That is expected to change within the next few days, as it is widely presumed Portland will release the veteran power forward acquired from the Cavaliers on Thursday.
Warriors coach Steve Kerr during his pregame news conference Friday didn’t deny the Warriors would consider adding Varejao. Kerr didn’t exactly confirm interest in Varejao, but he acknowledged any interest Varejao would seem logical.
“I have not been notified of that,” Kerr said. “But it makes perfect sense, right?

“He’s . . .” Kerr added before making a slow backtrack. “I don’t even know. Am I allowed to even mention his name? I could get fined by the NBA. I don’t know what the rule is.”
At that point, Warriors VP of communications Raymond Ridder interjected, reminding the coach that “the less, the better.”
Kerr discontinued comment.
The Warriors are among several teams that will be interested in signing Varejao, according to a report by ESPN’s Marc Stein. Varejao, 33, has spent his entire career in Cleveland but has played sparingly this season before being traded.
