Entering Tuesday night's game in Utah, Draymond Green was averaging 8.4 rebounds per game.
Against the Jazz, the Warriors' "heartbeat" grabbed just one rebound in 24 minutes of action.
What did Michigan State coach Tom Izzo think about that?
Well, he reportedly texted his former player the following message:
Izzo on his text to Draymond: “Are you becoming a white collar, foo foo guy?” (that's a radio edit version) cc: @diamond83— Kyle Austin (@kylebaustin) January 14, 2015
Green played for Izzo at Michigan State from 2008 to 2012.
He averaged 3.3 rebounds as a freshman, 7.7 as a sophomore, 8.6 as a junior, and 10.4 as a senior -- tied for the 12th most in the nation.
"He's tough like Haslem, he's not over-athletic, but smart like Battier, where what he lacks maybe in defensive ability as far as quickness, he makes up for as far as brains," Izzo said. "Those are the kind of things I think people are looking at. They're starting to appreciate his interviews and what he does and what he stands for. And he stayed up (in East Lansing to graduate), got all 3.0 (grades) in 400-level classes at the end. He's just got his head on pretty good.
"(His outside shot has) got to continue to get better. But if you look at him, the one thing he's done over four years, he got better every year. And the last two years, when he really started working on his shot, and he's still almost a 40 percent 3-point shooter last year — that's what a couple teams were amazed about — and now he's got the NBA line to go out to. But he works on it. He's got a pretty looking shot. He just needs reps...
"He had good workout with Miami, he had a good workout (with Indiana), he had a good workout with Golden State."
The Warriors chose Green with the fifth pick of the second round -- 35th overall.
He is averaging 12 points, 8.2 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.5 blocks per game thus far, and has made 52 3-pointers (he made 55 all last season).
