HOUSTON – Stephen Curry’s star continues to grow and shine and transcend the Warriors and the sport of basketball, with the latest evidence being his inclusion in Time Magazine’s annual list of 100 Most Influential People.
Curry, 28, was among the international figures identified as “titans,” joining the likes of Pope Francis, Apple CEO Tim Cook, Facebook chief Mark Zuckerberg and actor Dwayne Johnson, formerly known as “The Rock.”
The NBA’s reigning MVP, Curry was among 10 athletes on the list, which included boxer Rhonda Rousey, golfer Jordan Spieth and sprinter Usain Bolt.
“That’s pretty dope,” Warriors teammate Draymond Green said Thursday morning.
“He uses his platform well. He uses it the right way. Sometimes, you can be in that position and not necessarily use it the right way. He really stays true to himself. He glorifies the things he believes in.”
Curry is involved in numerous charitable activities, notably his “Nothing But Nets” campaign in which he donates insecticide-treated bed nets to fight malaria in Africa.
“I’m blessed to be in position to do things to help people,” Curry recently told CSNBayArea.com. “I have a platform and I don’t take it for granted.”
