The Warriors are just the ninth team in NBA history to start a season 21-2.
Five of the previous eight reached the NBA Finals, with four winning the title.
After Golden State's 16th straight game in New Orleans on Sunday night, head coach Steve Kerr was asked if his team could equal the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls, who won an NBA-record 72 games.
“Oh God, no," Kerr told reporters. "No!"
"We had this guy named Michael Jordan on that team," Kerr explained. "That year, I think we were 41-3. So if we can go 21-1 the next 22 games, come talk to me.”
The Bulls started the season 23-2 before dropping their third game in Indiana on Dec. 26.
They then rattled off 18 straight wins to improve to 41-3.

“What I remember that year is there were about 10 games where Michael just decided, ‘We’re going to win,'” Kerr said. “And every other team on Earth would have lost those 10 games. And Michael Jordan was … there’ll never be another one. Nobody has ever come close, and I don’t think anybody ever will. He wanted to break that Lakers record of 69 wins, so he decided we would do it, so we did it. There’s only one Michael.”
The Warriors will look to win their 17th straight on Tuesday night in Memphis against the 19-4 Grizzlies.
Golden State will have to do it without David Lee or Andrew Bogut, as both have already been ruled out.
Starting small forward Harrison Barnes is questionable.
