Andrew Wiggins was fantastic on Tuesday night.
The No. 1 overall pick in the 2014 draft registered 32 points, five rebounds, four assists and six steals in Minnesota's shocking 124-117 overtime win over the Warriors.
"We don't give up," Wiggins told TNT's Lewis Johnson after the game. "That's one thing about our team. We'll fight until the end. We've got a lot of young guys, and everyone who comes onto the floor gives 100 percent...
"We played physical. You know, we got to them. My team’s good. We can win on any given night...
"It came down to the best team in the last five minutes. We played hard. We played physical. We made shots. KAT made some big shots down the stretch. We came out with the win...
“They’re (the Warriors) the best team with the best record right now. So, we came in the game thinking, 'We’ve got to beat them.' It's a good challenge for us. We want to make the playoffs, and this is a team that we’re gonna have to beat, you know, to get in the playoffs, to win the playoffs.”
With the victory, Minnesota improved to 26-52 on the season. The Timberwolves are not going to the playoffs.
Broadcaster Marv Albert was confused by Wiggins' comments, which led to the following exchange between him and analyst Chris Webber:
Albert: "Did he say, we could win on any given night? So, we had, let’s see, 26 given nights?"
Webber: "And then he said, ‘This is a team we’re gonna have to beat in the playoffs.’ Slow down, young fella. Congratulations on tonight. Slow down."
Albert: "We vote that the delusional interview of the season (laughter)."
