The Sharks will try again to clinch a playoff spot for the 10th straight season when they play in Calgary on Monday night.
According to NHL.com:
The San Jose Sharks would clinch a berth in the Stanley Cup Playoffs if they get at least one point against the Calgary Flames OR if the New York Rangers defeat the Phoenix Coyotes in regulation OR if the Winnipeg Jets defeat the Dallas Stars in regulation OR if both the Coyotes and Stars lose in overtime or a shootout.
Phoenix plays in New York starting at 4 p.m., so the Sharks could potentially clinch a spot before their game with the Flames concludes.
Meanwhile, the Anaheim Ducks drew to within one point of the Sharks in the Pacific Division race with a 6-2 win at home over Florida on Sunday. The Ducks are off until Wednesday, when they visit the Flames. They have one game in hand on the Sharks, and own the first tiebreaker thanks to 44 regulation/overtime wins to the Sharks’ 36.
If the playoffs started today, San Jose would play Minnesota.
