SAN JOSE -- After just one game in the lineup, the Sharks have reassigned defenseman Matt Tennyson to their AHL affiliate in Worcester.
Tennyson was recalled on Nov. 23 and dressed for San Jose’s 2-0 loss to Calgary. In a little more than 20 minutes of ice time, the 24-year-old recorded one shot on goal and was a -1 while paired with Brenden Dillon.
The move reduces the Sharks’ active roster to 22 players, with Tyler Kennedy and Troy Grosenick on injured reserve. San Jose had been carrying eight defensemen.
Against Philadelphia, rookie Mirco Mueller will be a likely scratch for the second straight game, meaning Scott Hannan and Matt Irwin will play together as the team’s third pair as they did vs. Anaheim on Saturday in a 6-4 Sharks win.
