SAN JOSE – While the Sharks’ extended their losing streak against Buffalo on Saturday, another streak came to an end.
For the first time since Dec. 3, 2009 vs. St. Louis, the Sharks did not announce a sellout at SAP Center. That broke a string of 177 consecutive announced regular season sellouts, and 205 including playoffs.
Several games last season appeared not to be sold out, either, but the club always announced a capacity crowd of 17,562.
The Sharks played just their third home game of the season on Saturday, and have 16 of their first 21 on the road.
Earlier this month, it was announced by NHL commissioner Gary Bettman that the team’s outdoor game against Los Angeles at Levi’s Stadium on Feb. 21 would be a sellout.
