Chris Tierney’s strong performance in Worcester has earned him another chance with the big club, as the Sharks recalled the 20-year-old center on Wednesday morning.
The former second-round pick has 24 points (7g, 17a) in 26 games with the Sharks’ AHL affiliate.
Tierney made the Sharks out of training camp, and played in 11 of the team’s first 13 games, mostly as the third line center. He was reassigned on Nov. 6, but recalled to center the fourth line during a three-game stretch from Dec. 11-18.
In a related roster move, the Sharks have placed forward Tye McGinn (upper body) on injured reserve. He joins Mike Brown (right leg), Tommy Wingels (left hand) and Justin Braun (left hand) on the injured list.
McGinn has struggled this season with just five points (1g, 4a) in 32 games.
