Martin Jones will make his first appearance in goal for the Sharks tonight in preseason action vs. the Canucks at Rogers Arena in Vancouver.
Jones, acquired from the Boston Bruins (via Los Angeles) this summer in a trade, is expected to start in net. Whether he is scheduled to play the entire game is unclear.
Joel Ward, signed to a three-year contract in the offseason, will also make his preseason debut, as will defenseman Paul Martin, inked to a four-year deal on July 1.
Others suiting up for the Sharks tonight include forwards Patrick Marleau, Logan Couture, Tomas Hertl, Ben Smith, Joonas Donskoi, Nikolay Goldobin, Rourke Chartier, Barclay Goodrow, John McCarthy, Micheal Haley, and Frazer McLaren; defensemen Brent Burns, Matt Tennyson, Karl Stollery, Mirco Mueller, and Justin Braun; and goalie Alex Stalock.
Tuesday's game will feature a 3-on-3 overtime regardless of the score after three periods, as NHL teams get used to the new format.
The Sharks kicked off their seven-game preseason schedule on Monday night in British Columbia, losing 1-0 in overtime to the Canucks. They host the Coyotes on Friday and Ducks on Saturday at SAP Center.
