Sharks rookie Tomas Hertl, injured after a knee-on-knee hit with Kings forward Dustin Brown on Dec. 19, will undergo surgery on Tuesday, the team has announced.
The Sharks released this statement on Monday morning:
"Tomas is undergoing surgery tomorrow with Dr. Anthony Miniaci in Cleveland, OH. After the procedure, we will have a better idea on severity and rehab timeline."
At the time of his injury, Hertl was the NHL’s leading rookie scorer with 25 points (15g, 10a) and second behind Patrick Marleau for the team lead in goals.
