The Sharks made a number of announcements on Tuesday, as the start of the team’s 2015-16 training camp fast approaches.
The 2015-16 regular season broadcast schedule was revealed, as 71 of the 82 games will be broadcast on Comcast SportsNet California. The other 11 will be featured on NBCSN. Randy Hahn and Jamie Baker will call the action.
On the radio side, every game will be on 98.5 KFOX FM. Longtime play-by-play man Dan Rusanowsky will call 50 games with Bret Hedican, while former Shark Dave Maley will join the crew.
The Sharks will pay tribute to original owner George Gund III with a banner as SAP Center, as part of their 25th year anniversary. According to a statement, the banner and ceremony on Oct. 10 at the home opener will "serve as a permanent tribute to Gund and his vital role in bringing the National Hockey League to San Jose.”
"George Gund's love of the game of hockey, and his belief in the city of San Jose and our fans are the reasons we are all here today," said Sharks owner Hasso Plattner. "His legacy deserves to be honored and remembered forever.”
Gund, a former recipient of the Lester Patrick Award for outstanding service to hockey in the United States, passed away on Jan. 15, 2013.
The Sharks’ yet-to-be-revealed “Heritage Jersey” will be worn just three times next season; Nov. 3 vs. Columbus, Dec. 1 vs. Pittsburgh, and Jan. 18 vs. Ottawa. A full, more robust promotional schedule, including posters and “mini lockers” was revealed.
The Sharks open training camp on Sep. 17, with the first on-ice practices on Sep. 18.
