It took just 47 seconds for Brent Burns to set up former teammate John Scott for a goal, and the story only got better from there on Sunday in Nashville at the annual NHL All-Star Game.
Scott was an unlikely and some would say controversial choice as the captain of the Pacific Division All-Stars, and scored two goals and added an assist as his team, including Burns and Sharks captain Joe Pavelski, won three-on-three tournament between the divisions. The league changed the format this year after previously All-Star games had become decidedly stale.

Scott was the star of the show, taking home MVP honors and a new car. He and his 10 teammates also got to split up the $1 million prize money awarded to the winning team.
The 6-foot-8, 260-pound enforcer, who spent the 2014-15 season in San Jose, skated on a line with Burns and Pavelski as the Pacific Division beat the Central, 9-6, and got past the Atlantic in the final, 1-0.
While speaking with NBC’s Pierre McGuire after the game, he was hoisted into the air by Burns and Pavelski, among others.
Pavelski had one goal and one assist in the two mini-games, while Burns posted three helpers.
The Sharks resume their season on Tuesday in Anaheim in the first of a four-game road trip against the Ducks.
