The Sharks have placed forward Tye McGinn on waivers, according to multiple reports.
McGinn, 24, has one goal and four assists for five points in 33 games. He was acquired by the Sharks from Philadelphia on July 2, 2014, for a third round pick in the 2015 draft.
McGinn played for the Sharks on Saturday against Ottawa for the first time since Jan. 31, when he suffered an upper body injury against Chicago.
The timing of the move is intriguing in that the Sharks have cleared a roster spot with a little more than 24 hours to go before the NHL's trade deadline at noon on Monday.
