University of Southern California defensive end Leonard Williams declared for the NFL draft on Monday, and had no qualms about stating where he wants to go.
“I would love to play for Oakland,” Williams said, via the Los Angeles Times.
The Raiders have the No. 4 overall pick. Most project the 6-foot-5, 300-pound mauler to be a top 5 selection.
His statement has a foundation. The Bakersfield native grew up a fan of the Silver and Black, and has been open about his desire to play for the Raiders.
On Wednesday morning, he tweaked an image to make it look like he already had. He posted this on Instagram, which has him in all black, with a Raiders logo in the image:
The Raiders could use someone of Williams’ caliber on defense. He had 48 tackles, eight sacks, nine tackles for losses and an interception in his junior season, which will be his last as a collegian.
While the Raiders have several needs that could be addressed at No. 4 overall (assuming, of course, they keep the pick), he would pair well with outside linebacker Khalil Mack on the defensive front.
