Raiders legend Tim Brown exceeded 1,000 receiving yards nine times in his Hall-of-Fame career. He last did so in 2001.
The feat’s been accomplished twice since then. Jerry Rice did it in 2002 and Randy Moss did it in 2005. No Raiders receiver has reached the milestone since.
Brown wants that trend to change. The Raiders have the No. 4 selection in this week’s NFL draft, with quality receivers among the best available options. Brown was taken No. 6 overall in the 1988 draft, and believes another top pick could certainly help the team’s receiver struggles.

“In that No. 4 position you have a chance to make something very good happen for your team, but I’m hoping the Raiders take one of these great receivers,” Brown told NFL Network on Wednesday. “Kevin White and Amari Cooper are out there, and to pass on one of those guys would be a shame. I know the defensive tackle from USC, Leonard Williams, is someone they’re talking about. But, to team Cooper or White with Derek Carr and (veteran receiver) Michael Crabtree would be a good combination for this team.”
Cooper and White are options at No. 4, but there’s significant receiver depth in this draft class. Louisville’s DeVante Parker, Central Florida’s Breshad Perriman or Miami’s Phillip Dorsett are options is the Raiders trade back in the first round. USC’s Nelson Agholor, Arizona State’s Jaelen Strong and Ohio State’s Devin Smith are options in the second round.
