ALAMEDA – Raiders left guard Gabe Jackson has missed three straight games with a knee injury. Cornerback TJ Carrie has been out two of the last three, including Thursday’s victory over the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Raiders were hoping prolonged rest could get those key rookies ready for the home stretch. It just might’ve worked.
While cautioning that much can happen over the next 10 days, Sparano has cause to believe Carrie and Jackson will be ready to play the St. Louis Rams on Nov. 30.
“There’s optimism,” he said in a press conference. “Again, I say that today, and just went over a few of those things a little while ago. But yes, there’s optimism there.”
The Raiders would benefit from the services of both impact rookies. Jackson would move back into the starting lineup, and Carrie could take over the No. 3 cornerback spot with DJ Hayden playing well in a starting role.
