UPDATE (Thursday at 12pm) -- The Raiders officially announced the re-signing of tackle Donald Penn on Thursday.

Donald Penn was set to visit the New York Giants this week. That trip has been cancelled.
The veteran left tackle agreed to terms on a new contract with the Raiders Wednesday morning. He was extremely close to completing a deal to remain with the Raiders, sources told CSN California late Tuesday night.
Penn will sign a two-year contract worth $14 million and $7 million guaranteed, per a league source, a deal that allows Penn to stay where he wanted to play.
In Oakland. In silver and black.
The 32-year could sign his new contract as early as Wednesday.
Penn hit the open market upon the start of the new league year as an unrestricted free agent, and had received interest from the Seattle Seahawks and New York Giants. He wanted to remain with the Raiders and the team wanted him back, but contract value created an impasse that held for a significant period.
Penn always said he wanted to stay with the Raiders, but also stated that he would have to consider outside interest. That helped complete this deal. The Raiders and Penn were gridlocked over compensation, but the sides made significant progress recently. The Raiders upped their offer some to prevent Penn from making his Giants trip.
The Raiders signed versatile guard/tackle Kelechi Osemele to a massive deal earlier this offseason, and he could’ve manned the left tackle spot should Penn have gone elsewhere. With Penn back in Oakland, Osemele can play guard as the Raiders had hoped and strengthen an offensive line that could count high among the NFL’s best.
Penn ranked in the top 15 offensive tackles in terms of pass protection, per analytics site Pro Football Focus, and was a steady run blocker off the left edge. He played well for the duration of a two-year, $9.6 million contract signed in the 2014 offseason.
