CLEVELAND – Defensive end LaMarr Woodley has played his last snap of the season. On Sunday, C.J. Wilson takes over that starting spot.
The fifth-year veteran has 12 starts to his name, with many more to come if he stays productive and healthy. He leads the Raiders with two sacks and also has 10 tackles and four quarterback pressures largely in a reserve role.
Benson Mayowa will see some time on passing downs and be a rotational reserve, but Wilson has a chance to see significant snaps.
“I’m ready for the responsibility,” Wilson said on Thursday. “I’m comfortable in the scheme and my role within it. It’s tough to lose LaMarr, but I’ll step in and do the very best I can.”
Wilson will have an increased role with Woodley on injured reserve, and those listed as inactive won’t have an impact on Sunday against Cleveland.
Receiver Vincent Brown, cornerback Keith McGill, tight end David Ausberry were ruled out on Friday.
Tackle Matt McCants, guard Tony Bergstrom, linebacker Bojay Filimoeatu and quarterback Matt McGloin were also ruled inactive.
