The Raiders cut former first-round draft pick and middle linebacker Rolando McClain Friday, the team announced on Twitter:

McClain released the following statement to ProFootballTalk.com:

"I’d like to thank the Raiders for giving me an opportunity to play in the NFL. I’m disappointed that it hasn’t worked out better, but I’m very excited and thankful. I will miss my teammates and wish them and the Raiders organization good luck going forward."

McClain, 23, was the No. 8 overall selection in the 2010 NFL draft.

After 41 career NFL games, McClain has as many off-field arrests as he does forced fumbles and interceptions combined. He was arrested in January of 2011 for allegedly firing a gun next to a man's head, and again in January of 2013 when he was arrested after giving a false name to a police office during a routine traffic stop.
