ALAMEDA -- The Raiders waived Shelby Harris on Thursday afternoon.
The seventh-round pick was inactive for the first two regular-season games and had dropped down the depth chart after a decent training camp. He was a second-string lineman early on, and saw some first-team snaps in the preseason.
The Raiders like what Harris has done for them, and there's a possibility he could join the practice squad.
"We like Shelby," Allen said. "When you have injuries, sometimes you have to make some moves and shuffle some things around."
The Raiders have a roster spot available, which could be used on another linebacker. Sio Moore has missed two practices with an ankle injury. The Raiders promoted Bojay Filimoeatu off the practice squad last week.
Harris was selected by the Raiders after a troublesome time in the college ranks. He transferred to Illinois State from Wisconsin after being suspended for a violation of team rules. He was suspended by Northern Illinois in 2011 and did not play the 2013 season after being kicked off the team.
The team also announced that outside linebacker Kaelin Burnett was waived off of injured reserve. That typically means an injury settlement was reached.
