The Raiders signed offensive tackle Jack Cornell off the practice squad on the eve of Sunday night’s game against the San Diego Chargers.
The team released guard Antoine McClain in a corresponding move.
The transaction was necessary due to injuries at tackle. Right tackle Tony Pashos (groin) and rookie swing tackle Menelik Watson (knee) are listed as questionable on the team’s injury report, leaving the Raiders with just two healthy tackles.
It’s also an indication that Watson or Pashos isn’t ready to play on Sunday. Odds are it’s Watson, who has been limited since returning from arthroscopic knee surgery.
Cornell will be the No. 4 tackle, used only in reserve. Cornell hasn’t played an NFL game, and has been on the Raiders’ practice squad on Sept. 11.
All told, four of the 10 offensive linemen are listed as questionable or worse on the team’s injury report.
