The Raiders are among eight teams eligible for “Hard Knocks,” the HBO documentary series based on life in an NFL training camp. While that may not be a positive around Raiders HQ, the team may not have a say in the matter.

The league could force them to do the show. Teams can back out for a list of reasons the Raiders and seven other teams don’t qualify for. Deadspin originally reported the list of teams with no say in the matter on Monday.
Teams with a new head coach, teams that have made a playoff appearance in the last two seasons or teams that have been on the show already don’t have to participate.

One of those teams can volunteer. So can the remaining eight. If no one does, the Raiders could be called upon.
The other seven without a choice in the matter: Arizona Cardinals, Buffalo Bills, Chicago Bears, Jacksonville Jaguars, Pittsburgh Steelers and St. Louis Rams.
