ALAMEDA -– Raiders quarterback Derek Carr was named the NFL’s rookie of the week on Friday afternoon, honoring an exemplary performance in Sunday’s 24-13 victory over the 49ers.
He was near perfect in that game, completing 22-of-28 passes for 254 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. He had a 140.2 passer rating, easily a career high and the sixth-best by a rookie quarterback with at least 20 attempts since 1960.
He orchestrated consecutive touchdowns that put the Raiders up two scores in the second half that kept the Silver and Black in front.
Carr was previously nominated for this honor following a Week 12 victory over Kanas City. He’ll try to beat the Chiefs again on Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium.
