DENVER –- The Raiders lost 47-14 to the Denver Broncos on Sunday afternoon, which pushed them to 3-13 on the season and slightly up the NFL draft board.
The Raiders entered the 1:25 p.m. game with the No. 5 overall pick, but weren’t going to keep it.
They matched the Jaguars’ record, but a tougher strength of schedule gives Jacksonville the No. 3 overall pick.
Oakland is now slotted with the No. 4 overall draft choice, sandwiched between Jacksonville and Washington.
The Washington football team and New York Jets finished the season at 4-12 during the morning games, and the Raiders would’ve fallen behind them with a victory over Denver.
That didn’t happen -– not by a long shot -– which gives the Raiders their third top-five pick in as many seasons.
They had the No. 3 pick in 2013, and traded it to Miami for more picks and the right to select cornerback DJ Hayden at No. 12 overall. They kept the No. 5 pick in 2014 and used it on rookie linebacker Khalil Mack.
What will they do with the No. 4 overall pick? We’ll know that on April 30, 2015.
