ALAMEDA – Raiders defensive tackle Vance Walker passed the first stage of the NFL’s protocol related to concussions, which allowed him to work on the side during Thursday’s practice.
Walker is allowed to participate in meeting and conditioning drills, but needs to be cleared to practice and play. Those hurdles are difficult to clear, especially for a player who was experiencing concussion-like symptoms a week after suffering head trauma against the New York Jets.
“We worked Vance out today and hopefully he responds well to that and then we’ll see where he’s at tomorrow,” head coach Dennis Allen said. “If he can practice tomorrow, then there’s a chance he might be able to be available this weekend.”
