BAGSHOT, England – Raiders running back Maurice Jones-Drew is set to return for Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins. He was a full participant in Friday’s practice and listed as probable on the team’s official injury report.
That doesn’t mean he’ll assume the bulk of the carries in his first game back. Darren McFadden should see significant snaps against the Dolphins at London’s Wembley Stadium, and it could be more of a platoon than it was in the regular-season opener, when Jones-Drew was the clear-cut starter.
McFadden has run hard, but it hasn’t generated steady production. Through three games, he’s averaging just 3.3 yards per carry.
But, with Jones-Drew on the mend, McFadden is expected to be featured in the game plan.
“Darren has had the majority of the carries over the last couple of weeks and the majority of the practice time over the last few weeks,” Raiders head coach Dennis Allen said. “Ultimately, we’ll have to see how the game plays out.”
The Raiders won’t play with weakside linebacker Sio Moore, who will miss his second straight game with an ankle injury. Quarterback Matt Schaub and receiver Rod Streater were also ruled out.
Middle linebacker Nick Roach is questionable, as he is every week, with lingering concussion-like symptoms. He is not expected to play on Sunday. He hasn’t been a full practice participant since suffering a concussion five weeks ago.
