SAN DIEGO -– Raiders cornerback TJ Carrie failed a pregame test of his ailing ankle to play in last week’s game against Denver. The rookie must’ve showed well on Sunday morning, because he was activated for the afternoon clash with the San Diego Chargers.
That’s a real boon for the Raiders secondary, which is playing without veteran Carlos Rogers, against a high-powered offense that spreads a defense out.
Carrie could see heavy snaps playing alongside DJ Hayden and Tarell Brown.
The Raiders are happy defensive end Justin Tuck is active after missing most of the week’s work with a neck injury. The Raiders have created more pressure in recent weeks, and Tuck has been an impact player in that regard.
A steady pass rush is required to hinder quarterback Philip Rivers’ performance, and the Silver and Black will count on Tuck and Khalil Mack to do so.
The Raiders didn’t have many surprises on their inactive list. In addition to Rogers, quarterback Matt McGloin, left guard Gabe Jackson, tight end David Ausberry, safety Jonathan Dowling, guard Tony Bergstrom and receiver Vincent Brown – a healthy scratch – were ruled inactive.
