ALAMEDA – Raiders defensive end Justin Tuck was fined for using abusive language toward an official, an NFL spokesman confirmed on Friday afternoon.
Tuck was fined $22,500 for the infraction.
The fine was based on a play late in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s victory over the Buffalo Bills. An offensive lineman was beaten and brought Tuck down awkwardly, in a fashion that clearly hurt his knee. Tuck retaliated and was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct towards an official.
He used abusive language at that point, and it was noted by the league.
It was Tuck’s only fine of the season. Brandian Ross was fined earlier this season for an illegal hit and Austin Howard was fined later in the year.
