The Raiders have officially named Jack Del Rio as their head coach.
No surprise there.
Del Rio is officially the team’s 21st head coach, and he hopes to be the one who gives the team its first winning season since 2002. Del Rio has long been known to covet this job, and sources have said that this is a perfect union.
Owner Mark Davis was instrumental in this hire.
“After a thorough interview and evaluation process, we are excited to announce Jack Del Rio as head coach of the Oakland Raiders,” owner Mark Davis said in a statement. “I have no doubt that he will make a significant impact and help reach the goal of everyone in this building, which is to win championships.”
Despite reported disagreements about who should be hired as head coach, the Raiders are on the same page in regard to bringing in Del Rio.
“Jack Del Rio brings a strong leadership presence to this organization,“ McKenzie said. “He has developed an excellent reputation as a head coach in this league and we are happy that he is a Raider.”
