Save a few minor spots, the Raiders coaching staff was fleshed out and well known.

Coordinators and every position coach have been reported or announced by the teams.

Then, in a minor Monday evening release that completed head coach Jack Del Rio’s group, a big name popped up. It’s one you know exceptionally well.

Former Raider and Hall-of-Fame defensive back Rod Woodson has been hired as the team’s assistant secondary coach. He will work under former All-Pro safety Marcus Robertson, who held that position a year ago.

This won’t be Woodson’s first go-round as a Raiders coach. He coached the Raiders cornerbacks in 2011, but was not retained when Dennis Allen was hired the following year.

Woodson played 17 professional seasons, starting at cornerback before a switch to safety. That’s what he played in silver and black, totaling 10 interceptions in 26 starts during the 2002-03 seasons.

The Raiders hired Tim Holt to assist Mike Tice with the offensive line. They also replaced the strength and conditioning staff. That group is now led by Joe Gomes, who previously led a private training firm.
