The City of Oakland set a Monday deadline for Colony Capital and partner Hayah Holdings to turn in important documents regarding the Coliseum City proposal.
That included a signed letter from a local professional team declaring interest in the project. That was expected to come from the Raiders, the only East Bay team that has publicly expressed interest in the project.
While certain documents were submitted before close of business on Monday, a Letter of Interest was not. That information was relayed by Oakland Office of Neighborhood Investment deputy director Gregory Hunter, the city’s point person on this proposal, on Monday evening via email. Hunter did not elaborate on the content of other documents.
It is uncertain what missing the deadline will mean to the project. Colony Capital could turn one in from the Raiders on Tuesday morning, or Monday’s omission could mean they don’t have a signed Letter of Interest at all.
The Raiders declined comment on this story.
Owner Mark Davis has spoken about the project with tempered optimism in recent months.
According to the San Jose Mercury News, reports outlining funding sources for project’s early phases, a revenue analysis for possible stadiums and site plans were also due on Monday.

Coliseum City is a wide-reaching redevelopment plan that could include new stadiums for one to three professional sports teams. The Oakland Athletics have recently discussed the possibility of a longer-term lease extension to stay at the Oakland Coliseum. The Golden State Warriors recently bought land for a move to San Francisco. That leaves the Raiders as the likeliest centerpiece of the possible Coliseum City project.
