ALAMEDA – Raiders safety Charles Woodson did a little bit of everything at the University of Michigan. A cornerback by trade, Woodson was also an explosive return man who occasionally played offense for the Wolverines, showcasing versatility helped him win a Heisman trophy.
He had 21 catches for 370 yards and three touchdowns in college. He has two catches as a pro, none since the 2000 season.
Woodson still runs routes in pregame warm-ups, even without the possibility of doing it in a game.
Woodson could play offense during his last game in Oakland. That day comes on Thursday night against the San Diego Chargers, a moment set after the 18-year veteran announced his retirement on Monday evening.

Offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave wouldn’t eliminate the possibility.
“I don’t know if (he will),” Musgrave said. “That’s been in discussions since we started the season. We may have something up our sleeve. It might be the right time to do it.”
Woodson could become the oldest player to return a punt on Sunday, which seems a bit more likely as a tribute to his versatility in his final home game.
Woodson’s last game in the East Bay should be an emotional one for the players, coaches and fans, especially considering it could be the Raiders’ last game in Oakland.
“We need to stay focused during the week,” running back Latavius Murray said, “so we can win this game and send C-Wood out on a high note.”
