Former Cal star and current Detroit Lions running back Jahvid Best might never play football again, as CSNBayArea.com learned Best was unable to receive medical clearance to resume football activities from the Lions medical staff.
According to an NFL report, Best has not ruled out returning to the NFL, but all indications are that his career is nearing an end.
Best's last NFL game was on Oct. 16, 2011, when he sustained his latest concussion. It was his second brain injury in a span of two months, and the fourth concussion of his football career.
The Lions have reportedly already begun a search for a running back to replace the 23-year-old.
