E.J. Rowland played two years of NCAA basketball at Saint Mary's, leading the team in assists in both the 2003-04 and 2004-05 seasons.
He opted to play abroad after earning All-WCC honorable mention as a senior. Now, he's playing for the Turkish team Banvit, and he was front and center in a scary moment while facing Buducnost in Montenegro in Round 1 of the 2015 EuroCup.
During a teammate's free-throw attempt, a Buducnost fan rushed the court and shoved Banvit player Sammy Mejia. Rowland was not far behind and leveled the fan, spurring a game-stopping brouhaha.
Both Rowland and Mejia were ejected, though Banvit held on for the 74-68 win.
