SACRAMENTO -- After courting Dion Waiters and calling on Courtney Lee, the Sacramento Kings finally landed their first free agent commitment of the summer.
Guard Arron Afflalo has agreed to a two-year deal with the Kings estimated at $25 million, according to multiple reports.
Afflalo, 30, spent last season with the Knicks, playing in 71 games for New York, including 57 starts. He posted a solid 12.8 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 33.4 minutes a night.
The veteran wing will slide right into the starting shooting guard spot for the Kings and provide veteran leadership and long range shooting. He shot 38.2 percent from 3-point land last season and is a 38.5 percent shooter from distance during his nine-year career.
The two-year deal allows the Kings time to assess rookie Malachi Richardson and lands them a starting caliber shooting guard while they wait for Bogdan Bogdanovic to come over from Europe next summer.
With this signing, the Kings still have more than $20 million in cap space to spend. And they have one less major hole in their lineup to fill.
