SACRAMENTO -- It’s the second of a back-to-back on Saturday at Sleep Train Arena for both the Kings (10-9) and the Magic (8-14).
On Friday, the Kings defeated the Pacers 102-101 in OT in Sacramento while Orlando picked up a 98-93 win in Utah over the Jazz.
Sacramento snapped a four-game losing streak with the victory and endured its fifth straight game without DeMarcus Cousins, who is out with a viral infection.
Orlando won without its starting center as well. Nikola Vucevic, who averages 18.6 points and 11.6 rebounds, missed his third straight game due to a low back sprain.
Cousins, who is tied for second in the NBA with Anthony Davis with 12 double-doubles is out versus the Magic while Vucevic, the league leader with 13 double-doubles, is listed as questionable.
The Magic snapped a two-game losing streak on Friday and Sacramento is the last stop of a six-game road trip.
The Kings are 1-1 in the second of back-to-back's while the Magic are 2-3 in the same scenario.
Sacramento minus 6.5
MATCHUP TO WATCH:
Rudy Gay vs. Tobias Harris: Gay scored 27 in the Kings win versus the Pacers Friday and has gone for more than 20 points 11 times including his last four games. Harris is averaging 18.5 points per game and gone for greater than 20 points eight times including 22 in Friday’s road win in Utah.
1. Experience – The Kings must leverage their veteran presence in Gay, Collison, Hollins, Landry et al and not let the Magic, who have 11 players with three year's or less experience in the NBA, sniff a win.
2. Scintillating start – A good start similar to last night allowing just 20 points en route to a 14-point first quarter lead versus the Pacers is critical against the youthful Magic.
3. 3-point line – Orlando is sixth in the NBA in 3-point field goal percentage while the Kings are fifth in the league in defending it – a marked improvement from finishing 29th last season.
The Magic have made 10+ 3-pointers three times this season and are 2-1 in those games. The Kings will be tested by Fournier, Frye, Oladipo and Harris.
Kings – C DeMarcus Cousins (viral infection) is out.
Magic – F Aaron Gordon (fractured fifth metatarsal, left foot) and G Devyn Marble (strained right rotator cuff) are out while C Nikola Vučević (sprained low back) is questionable.
This is the first of two meetings this season between the Kings and Magic.
The Kings swept the two game series last year and lead the overall series 27-23.
Rudy Gay, Kings small forward Friday after Carl Landry’s first career game winning shot versus the Pacers: “He (Landry) deserves it and we want to celebrate it but we’ve got another game tomorrow.”
