Kings rookie Nik Stauskas is open to an assignment with Sacramento’s D-League affiliate, the Reno Bighorns.
“If that’s what they feel is best for me, then I’m all for it,” Stauskas told reporters after Thursday's practice. “I feel like I get a lot of good work in in practice but if I’m not going to play in games and they feel like it’s best for me to go to Reno then I’m all for it.”
The 6-foot-6 guard has been rumored to be on the trading block, as first reported by CBS Sports, and is averaging just 3.6 points per game while shooting 33 percent from the floor and 27 percent from 3-point range.

Stauskas was back on the floor last night for the Kings (16-26) in a 103-100 loss to Brooklyn. This followed two consecutive DNP-CDs (Did Not Play- Coach’s Decision) after appearing in Sacramento’s first 39 games of the season.
The Michigan product’s stat line was quiet in nearly seven minutes -- all in the first quarter with just one personal foul reflected in a box score of zeros.
“Obviously, I haven’t played up to what I expect of myself,” Stauskas added. “That’s all part of the business. There’s going to be some games, some weeks, some months, where things aren’t going your way and other times it will.
"I’m just trying to work hard and control what I can and hopefully the rest will take care of itself.”
Stauskas is striving to adjust to the NBA.
“Everyone’s been telling me that’s the NBA,” Stauskas elaborated. “There’s going to be times where you don’t play at all, times you play and times where you’re just gonna be confused as to when you’re getting in, when you’re coming out and you’re really not gonna have any idea. So for me it’s all about staying ready for my opportunities and just playing hard when I’m out there.”
Perhaps Stauskas can find himself in Reno, although Kings coach Tyrone Corbin shot down the idea of sending the eighth overall pick in this year’s draft to play with the Big Horns.
“Not right now,” Corbin said. “No.”
