Giants' pitchers Jeremy Affeldt and Ryan Vogelsong have been added to Team USA's 28-man roster for the World Baseball Classic, announced by USA Baseball on Thursday.

The provisional roster can be amended but must be finalized by Feb. 20, with Team USA's first round of games beginning March 8 at Chase Field in Phoenix, Ariz.

Both Affeldt and Vogelsong will be less than five months removed from stellar postseason performances that aided the Giants toward their second World Series championship in three years when the tournament begins.

Vogelsong started four games and went 3-0 with a 1.09 ERA during the 2012 postseason, allowing just 3 earned runs and 16 hits over 24.2 innings pitched.

Affledt did not allow a run over 10.1 innings pitched during the 2012 postseason. In Game 4 of the World Series, Affeldt struck out the meat of the Detroit Tigers' lineup -- Miguel Cabrera, Prince Fielder and Delmon Young -- in order after relieving starter Matt Cain in the bottom of the eighth with the score tied at three.

Joe Torre will manage Team USA for the World Baseball Classic, which culminates at the Giants' home field -- AT&T Park -- in the tournament's final game on March 19.
