Programming note: Get up to date on all the latest offseason Giants news with the Hot Stove Show, Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m. on Comcast SportsNet Bay Area
SAN FRANCISCO – Tim Lincecum will have his usual rock-star retinue at Fan Fest on Saturday. Expect Hunter Pence and Buster Posey to draw their usual pied-piper following, too.
But if you hoped to get a look at a slimmed-down Panda, you’ll just have to wait.
I’m told that Pablo Sandoval will not attend Fan Fest because he asked club officials if he could continue his workout regimen in Venezuela. Sandoval is playing right now for Magallanes, which hopes to wrap up the Venezuelan League finals series Tuesday night against Caribes de Anzoategui. The Navegantes lead the best-of-7 series 3-1.
[BAGGARLY: Sandoval back in Magallanes lineup after leaving Saturday's game]
Angel Pagan and Marco Scutaro also are not on the list of attendees, which the club released to the media on Tuesday. Pagan begged out last year, too – even after signing a four-year, $40 million contract.
New Giants Michael Morse and Tim Hudson will be in attendance. So will lefty David Huff, even though he’s been in the organization for just a few days after being claimed off waivers.
A reminder before you peruse the full list: Autographs are great, but for a truly meaningful chance to interact with your favorite players, head to the Q&A stages. The Giants always do a great job with those, and they’re a lot of fun. Last year alone, we saw Pence imitate Lincecum, and Brandon Belt unintentionally stick something up on the Dodgers’ bulletin board.
