One day after the Boston Red Sox reportedly made a five-year, $95 million offer to free agent Pablo Sandoval, John Shea of The San Francisco Chronicle is reporting that the San Diego Padres have made a higher offer to Sandoval.
While the Padres offer may be higher, the report states that Sandoval is leaning towards accepting Boston's offer.
Giants assistant general manager Bobby Evans spoke by phone on Yahoo! SportsTalk Live Thursday to discuss the Sandoval's free agency.
"We've stayed in regular contact," Evans said.
Evans expects a decision from Sandoval soon.
"My sense of listening to Pablo's representatives would probably put this at a conclusion prior to Thanksgiving, and maybe sooner than that. Pablo and his representatives wants to be clear on what his opportunities are elsewhere as well as their opportunity here. And then ultimately where the best fit is and what the best offer is," Evans said.
