The Mike Leake Era in San Francisco didn't last long.
The free-agent right-hander agreed to terms on a contract with the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday morning, according to Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal.
The Giants acquired Leake from the Reds in late July.
He made his first start in orange and black on Aug. 2 and then missed a couple weeks with a hamstring strain.
On Aug. 22 in Pittsburgh, he allowed just one run on one hit and a walk over six innings, but he struggled thereafter.
Over his next six outings, he went 1-4 with a 5.82 ERA.
Leake finished his campaign strong, tossing a complete-game shutout against the Dodgers on Sept. 30.
Although both Leake and Giants management expressed a mutual desire to agree on a long-term extension, San Francisco signed Jeff Samardzija and Johnny Cueto instead.
The 28-year old Leake was the eighth overall pick in the 2009 draft.
