Concussions kept Sanchez from finishing the 2014 season, and GM Brian Sabean indicated that he gained weight and "has work to do" before entering 2015 as Buster Posey's backup.
Andrew Susac is expected to compete for the right to be the Giants' second catcher.
Sanchez, 25, hit .196 with three home runs and 28 RBI in 66 games with the Giants last year.
