Pablo Sandoval is not in the Red Sox's lineup for their Thursday game against the Braves, and the reason is a bit curious.
Sandoval has reportedly been benched for one game for violating the team's social media policy, according to multiple national reports.
The third baseman was busted "liking" a number of photos on Instagram during the Red Sox's 5-2 loss to Atlanta on Wednesday.
He apparently admitted his actions and apologized to his teammates after meeting with GM Ben Cherington and manager John Farrell.
Sandoval said he grabbed his phone on the way to the bathroom in the seventh inning.
Sandoval went 2-for-4 with a strikeout in the loss, and has at least two hits in five straight games. He's batting .270 with six home runs and 23 RBI through 59 games with Boston.
Travis Shaw will play third base for Boston on Thursday, batting seventh.
