Major League Baseball announced its 2016 Hall of Fame class on Wednesday, building on a special group of all-timers.
Catcher Mike Piazza and outfielder Ken Griffey Jr. were the only two players to be admitted into Cooperstown this year.
[RATTO: HOF: Bonds, Clemens won't get in; Griffey won't go unanimously]
Piazza, a 12-time All-Star, hit 427 home runs, maintained a .308 average, and won 10 Silver Slugger awards.
In his fourth year on the Baseball Writers' Association of America ballot, Piazza was named on 365 ballots (83.0 percent).
Piazza's six seasons of 30 HR and 100 RBI is the most in MLB history by a catcher.
Griffey, a 13-time All-Star, hit 630 home runs, 1,836 RBI, and won 10 Gold Glove awards.
In his first year on the ballot, Griffey was named on 437 of 440 ballots by voting members of the Baseball Writers' Association of America, setting a new record with a percentage of 99.32.
While Piazza is now the lowest-drafted player in the Hall of Fame (62nd Round, 1,390th overall in 1988 by the Los Angeles Dodgers), Griffey Jr. becomes the first No. 1 overall draft pick in major league history to make it to Cooperstown (1987 by the Seattle Mariners).
Barry Bonds, who received 36.8 percent of the votes last year, saw his Hall of Fame percentage increase to 44.3 percent.
