GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Adrian Gonzalez hit his second spring homer, a two-run shot, and Carlo Frias threw four scoreless innings, leading the Dodgers to a 13-0 victory over a split-squad of San Francisco Giants on Friday night.
Gonzalez launched a shot over the left-field wall in the second inning off Giants right-hander Clayton Blackburn, who was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento on March 20.
Frias, a contender for the fifth spot in the Dodgers' starting rotation, gave up six hits, struck out three and walked one.
Chase Utley, who started at second base, hit a pair of doubles, including one for an RBI in the second.
Dodgers: Frias, right-hander, is being looked at for the rotation because of injuries to Mike Bolsinger and Brandon Beachy. It's not certain either will be ready for the start of the season.
"Carlos is definitely in the mix," said Dodgers manager Dave Roberts, who also is looking at Zach Lee as a possible No. 5 starter. "Only a couple of balls were hit hard. He used the sinker really well.
"It was good, a very productive outing for him."
Frias was not worried about his chances.
"It's not my decision," he said. "I can only do my job and do whatever they ask."
STILL LOOKING FOR TWO
Frias helped his own cause in the third inning with an RBI single to right. He tried to turn it into a double, but was thrown out at second.
"Bad decision," he said. "I've never had a double."
Giants: C Andrew Susac is working his way back from an inflamed right wrist. He began hitting off a tee Friday.
Dodgers: C Yasmani Grandal's chances at being ready for opening day grew less likely on Friday. Grandal hoped to be back in a game Monday, but his return was pushed to a later day because of a lingering strain in his right forearm. ... 2BHowie Kendrick, who strained a left calf running the bases Tuesday, is expected to be sidelined for a few more days, according to Roberts, who is still optimistic that Kendrick will be at second base on opening day. ... SS Corey Seager, sidelined since March 11 with a sprained left knee, took four at-bats in minor league games Friday. Roberts, who expects him to work through even more drills Saturday, said Seager could play in a major league game in a couple of days. ... RHP Beachy, who had elbow pain on March 20, has resumed throwing. He might throw off a mound on Saturday or Sunday.
Giants: In Mesa with RHP Jeff Samardzija set for his sixth spring start against Cubs RHP John Lackey in his third start.
Dodgers: Split-squads are in Peoria in an afternoon game with LHP Scott Kazmir set to go against Mariners LHP Wade Miley, and a night game in Glendale with RHP Zach Lee against White Sox RHP Carson Fulmer.
