UPDATE (11:34am on Sunday): The Giants officially announced Sunday morning that catcher Andrew Susac has been placed on the 60-day DL and the contract of catcher Jackson Williams has been purchased from Double-A Richmond.
The Giants' already injury-riddled roster took another hit on Saturday with Andrew Susac going down for the remainder of the year.
Susac was diagnosed with a wrist sprain and has ligament damage in his wrist.
The origin of the injury is unknown, but Susac's wrist has reportedly been bothering him since spring training, according to Andrew Baggarly of the Bay Area News Group.
Manager Bruce Bochy confirmed Susac would be shelved for the rest of the year in his postgame press conference.
Susac will have his wrist immobilized for several months. Bochy was hoping he could play winter ball, but now he won't.
The Giants will call up catcher Jackson Williams and place Susac on the 60-day DL.
