The Giants placed starting pitcher Matt Cain on the 15-day DL Saturday after exiting Friday's contest early with a strained right hamstring.
In a corresponding move, the Giants have recalled right-handed pitcher Chris Stratton. The 25-year-old will be making his big league debut when he first steps on the mound for the Giants.
Cain appeared to be in some discomfort after throwing his 26th pitch of the game Friday. He went 1 2/3 innings and allowed one hit.

After starting slow, Cain had recovered nicely in his last few outings. Since allowing eight runs -- six earned -- in four innings vs. the Rockies on May 5, Cain has gone 22.2 innings pitched with just a 1.59 ERA.
For the season, Cain is 1-5 with a 5.20 ERA.
Stratton, San Francisco's top pick in the 2012 MLB Draft, has gone 5-4 with a 6.02 ERA in nine starts for the Sacramento River Cats this season. He is 27-27 with a 4.17 ERA in his minor league career.
