After fracturing his right fibula against the Dodgers on June 20, Giants left fielder Nori Aoki began his climb back to the major leagues with his first rehab game for the Sacramento River Cats Tuesday evening.
Aoki hit leadoff and got three at-bats for the River Cats as they hosted the El Paso Chihuahuas.
In the bottom of the first inning, Aoki grounded out to first base.
With one out and a runner on first base in the bottom of the third inning, Aoki grounded into a fielder's choice. He was stranded at first base.
In his final at-bat of the night, Aoki singled on a ground ball to second base. The next batter, Kelby Tomlinson, flied out to center field and Aoki was doubled off at first base.
Aoki was replaced on defense in the top of the sixth.
The plan is for Aoki to play seven innings for the River Cats on Wednesday, and if all goes well, the Giants could have him back in their lineup Friday.
