The San Francisco Giants activated right-handed starter Matt Cain from the disabled list on Monday and optioned right-handed reliever Chris Stratton to Triple-A to clear space on the 25-man roster.
Cain, who is recovering from a strained right hamstring, is slated to start Monday night against the Brewers. He is 1-5 with a 5.20 ERA through 10 starts this year.
The 31-year-old veteran has gone 1-1 with a 1.59 ERA (4er, 22.2ip) in his last four starts, compared to a 0-4 mark with a 7.84 ERA (27er, 31.0ip) in his first six outings of the season.
Stratton, 25, is 1-0 with a 3.00 ERA in three games for the Giants. He earned his first big league win on Saturday despite allowing a go-ahead home run to Adrian Gonzalez in the 10th inning.
